36-HR FORECAST OUTLOOK & ANALYSIS*

NANMADOL (MINA) is expected to move WNW during the next 36 hours. On the forecast track, the center of the depression will make landfall over Fujian Province, near Xiamen City today. NANMADOL will eventually dissipate as it moves inland across the rugged terrain of Southeastern China. Below is the summary of the 36-hour forecast for this system.

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON:  Makes landfall over Fujian Province...rapidly dissipating...about 46 km ENE of Xiamen City, China [2PM AUG 31: 24.7N 118.5E @ 45kph].
THURSDAY EARLY MORNING:  No longer a Tropical Cyclone...just a remnant area of low pressure moving slowly across Fujian Province...about 60 km NW of Xiamen City [2AM SEP 01: 24.9N 117.7E @ 35kph].
THURSDAY AFTERNOON:  Continues to dissipate over Southeastern China...about 152 km WNW of Xiamen City [2PM SEP 01: 25.0N 116.7E @ 35kph].

Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min. avg) have decreased to near 55 km/hr (30 knots) with higher gusts. NANMADOL is a Tropical Depression (TD) on the Saffir-Simpson Tropical Cyclone Scale. Continued weakening is expected as NANMADOL makes landfall today.

NANMADOL is an average-sized tropical cyclone with a diameter of 650 kilometers (350 nautical miles).

*Please be reminded that the 2-Day Forecast Outlook changes every 6 hours, and the wind speed forecast error, averages 35 kph per day. Therefore, a turn to the left or right of its future track and changes in its wind speed must be anticipated from time to time.
