JTWC (US NAVY & AIR FORCE) REMARKS:

REMARKS (for Meteorologists): 2 AM (18 GMT) MON 29 AUGUST POSITION: 22.1N 121.0E.
*TYPHOON (TY) 14W (NANMADOL), LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 180NM SOUTH OF
TAIPEI, TAIWAN, HAS TRACKED NORTHWARD AT 06 KNOTS OVER THE PAST SIX
HOURS. ANIMATED INFRARED SATELLITE IMAGERY AND RADAR LOOPS FROM
SOUTHERN TAIWAN VERIFY THAT TY 14W IS MAKING LANDFALL OVER THE
SOUTHEASTERN TIP OF THE ISLAND. THE INTENSITY ANALYSIS IS BASED ON A
COMBINATION OF DVORAK ESTIMATES AND SURFACE REPORTS FROM HENGHUN,
TAIWAN, WHICH SHOWED GUSTS UP TO 60 KNOTS DURING PASSAGE. A BUILDING
RIDGE OVER EASTERN CHINA WILL DRIVE TY 14W TO THE NORTHWEST AND THE
OVER-LAND PASSAGE WILL SEVERELY WEAKEN THE STORM. ENVIRONMENTAL
CONDITIONS OVER THE TAIWAN STRAIT ARE FAVORABLE FOR SUSTAINING THE
SYSTEM AT LOW TROPICAL STORM STRENGTH UNTIL IT MAKES LANDFALL OVER
EASTERN CHINA FOR THE FINAL TIME. THE LATEST GUIDANCE INDICATES NO
CHANCE OF THE REMNANTS OF THE STORM RE-ENTERING THE SOUTH
CHINA SEA...(
