A new Tropical Disturbance (LPA) near Batanes is expected to reach Tropical Depression threshold today. Watch for the initial advisory on this system this lunchtime (12:00 PM). Meanwhile, T2K is now Ending the 6-hrly web, email & SMS advisories (except 12 AM PhT) on TS MALOU (HENRY).

CURRENT STORM INFORMATION TROPICAL CYCLONE WATCH CURRENT I.T.C.Z. INTENSITY: MODERATE >> Partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and heavy thunderstorms can be expected along the following affected areas: REST OF LUZON, METRO MANILA, BICOL REGION, PALAWAN, VISAYAS & MINDANAO. Light SW, South or SE winds (not in excess of 30 kph) can be expected along these areas.

Strong Tropical Disturbance 90W (LPA/1004 MB) continues to gain strength despite moderate upper-level winds affecting it...may become a Tropical Depression within 06 to 24 hours. It was located near lat 21.4N lon 121.2E...or about 125 km NNW of Basco, Batanes...with 1-min maximum sustained winds of 40 kph near the center...moving SW @ 15 kph. Moderate to heavy rains will affect the Extreme Northern & NW Luzon including the smaller islands of Batanes, Itbayat, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands today. The 24 to 48-Hr.
