KOMPASU (GLENDA) has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm after crossing the Korean Peninsula this morning...now moving quickly across the Sea of Japan. Weather conditions improving dramatically across the Korean Peninsula.
Residents and visitors along Hokkaido should closely monitor the progress of KOMPASU.
Do not use this for life or death decision. This advisory is intended for additional information purposes only. Kindly refer to your country's official weather agency for local warnings, advisories & bulletins.

TY KOMPASU is now moving fast away from the Korean Peninsula...and into the Sea of Japan. It will become an Extratropical Cyclone by tomorrow morning [8AM SEP 03: 42.1N 135.7E @ 75kph]. KOMPASU will be over Southern Hokkaido, Japan tomorrow evening and over the Northwest Pacific Ocean on Saturday tomorrow morning [8AM SEP 04: 41.6N 146.8E @ 55kph].
Current Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min. avg) are near 100 km/hr (55 kts) with higher gusts.
*Please be reminded that the Forecast Outlook changes every 6 hours, and the Extended Forecast Track have an average error of 250 km on Day 3...450 km on Day 4...and 650 km on Day 5, while the wind speed forecast error, averages 35 kph per day. Therefore, a turn to the left or right of its future track and changes in its wind speed can be expected from time to time.

KOMPASU's circulation has started to turn into an Extratropical System. Weather conditions across most of Korea has quickly improved. CIRCULATION CENTER (LLCC) WITH DEEP CONVECTION SHEARED
NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER AND FRONTAL CHARACTERISTICS.
TY 08W IS UNDER HIGH VERTICAL WIND SHEAR (50 KNOTS) AND
IS WEAKENING RAPIDLY OVER ROUGH TERRAIN. THERE IS GOOD
CONFIDENCE IN THE CURRENT POSITION BASED ON KMA RADAR
DATA. THE CURRENT INTENSITY IS BASED ON DVORAK ESTIMATES
