FORECAST OUTLOOK ANALYSIS (up to 1 day)*
MEARI (FALCON) is expected to continue moving NE-ward across North Korea today and dissipate. Below is the summary of the 1-day forecast for MEARI (FALCON).
TONIGHT (MON): Dissipates over North Korea...about 175 km ENE of Pyongyang, North Korea [8PM JUN 27: 39.9N 127.5E @ 35kph].
TOMORROW EARLY MORNING (TUE): Dissipated to the south of the North Korean-Russian Border or off the Sea of Japan...about 155 km SW of Vladivostok, Russia [2AM JUN 28: 41.9N 130.9E @ 35kph].
Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min. avg) are near 45 km/hr (25 knots) with higher gusts. MEARI (FALCON) is a weak Tropical Depression (TD) on the Saffir-Simpson Tropical Cyclone Scale. Complete dissipating of this system is expected tonight or early tomorrow morning. MEARI has shrunk to an average-sized tropical cyclone with a diameter of 665 kilometers (360 nautical miles) across.
*Please be reminded that the Forecast Outlook changes every 6 hours, and the Extended Forecast Track have an average error of 250 km on Day 3...450 km on Day 4...and 650 km on Day 5, while the wind speed forecast error, averages 35 kph per day. Therefore, a turn to the left or right of its future track and changes in its wind speed must be anticipated from time to time.
EFFECTS & HAZARDS SUMMARY TROPICAL CYCLONE WATCH CURRENT SW MONSOON INTENSITY: WEAK >> Cloudy with possible occasional showers will be expected along the following affected areas: WESTERN SECTIONS OF NORTHERN AND CENTRAL LUZON Light to moderate SW'ly winds (not in excess of 35 kph) will blow.
MEARI's (FALCON) circulation just affecting the Korean Peninsula and portion of the Yellow Sea. Below are the summary of the storm's parts and its hazards affecting specific areas:
WEAKENING RAINBANDS - spreading and affecting North & South Korea and the Yellow Sea.. Tropical Depression Conditions w/ moderate to strong winds (30-61 kph) can be expected along these bands (click here to know more about Rainbands).
24HR TOTAL RAINFALL ACCUMULATION - from 5 up to 10 mm (low rainfall) can be expected along the rainbands...with isolated amounts of up to 25 mm (low) near the center of MEARI (FALCON). (click to open NOAA's eTRaP graphic).
Tropical Disturbance 90W (LPA/1010 MB) has moved NW across the South China Sea (West Philippine Sea) and has become fragmanted. Its possible center was located near lat 19.3N lon 118.4E...about 260 km NW of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, PH...with 1-min maximum sustained winds of 25 kph near the center. The 24-Hr.
