Tropical Depression NANDO (91W) has quickly traversed Northern Luzon last night...now off the NW Coast of Ilocos Norte...threatens Southern China. Heavy rainbands no longer affecting Northern Luzon.
*Residents and visitors along Southern China should closely monitor the progress of NANDO.
*Kindly refer to your local warnings & bulletins issued by your country's official weather agency. This advisory is intended for additional information purposes only.
+ Forecast Outlook: NANDO is expected to continue tracking WNW across the South China Sea today and intensify. This system shall be approaching the coastal areas of Guangdong Province of China tomorrow.
+ Effects: NANDO's broad wind and rain circulation has moved out into the South China Sea. Light eastern rainbands of the depression just spreading across Western & NW Luzon. Light rains with gusty winds can be expected across NW Luzon today. 1-day rainfall accumulations of 75 up to 200 mm can be expected along NANDO's rainbands with isolated accumulations of up to 300 mm along the heavy rainbands. Residents in low-lying areas & steep slopes must remain alert & seek evacuation for possible life-threatening flash floods, mudslides & landslides due to the anticipated heavy rains brought about by this system. Precautionary measures must be initiated if necessary.
+ Current SW Monsoon Intensity: MODERATE >> Light to moderate southwesterly winds not in excess of 45 kph with occasional light to moderate rains w/ some thunderstorms can be expected along the following affected areas: METRO MANILA, LUBANG ISLAND, ZAMBALES, PANGASINAN, BATAAN, CALAMIAN GROUP, & MINDORO. Possible landslides, mudslides, mudflows (lahars) and life-threatening flash floods are likely to occur along steep mountain/volcanic slopes, river banks, low-lying & flood-prone areas of the affected areas.
