Current Status and Outlook	MARIA has weakened just below Super Typhoon classification as it slowed down during the past 24 hours.  It shall enter the northeastern border of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday morning (July 09) with no threat to the country. This typhoon WILL NOT MAKE LANDFALL to any part of the Philippines, but will only, indirectly induce the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and bring occasional rains and thunderstorms across the western sections of Luzon and Visayas this weekend through next week.
Where is MARIA?	As of 5:00 PM PhT today, July 07…0900 GMT. The eye was located over the Northwest Pacific Ocean (near 17.7N 140.5E), about 658 km northwest of Hagatna, Guam (CNMI) or 1,943 km east of Santa Ana, Cagayan.
How strong is it?	Maximum Sustained Winds (10-min avg): 215 kph near the center…Gustiness: 260 kph
Past Movement (06 hrs)	North-Northwest @ 07 kph, towards the sea east of the North Philippine Sea.
Forecast Highlights	TY MARIA is forecast to enter the northeastern border of the PAR on Monday morning (July 09), and shall eventually exit the northern border of the PAR by early Wednesday morning (July 11).  It will be known in the Philippines as "GARDO" once it enters the PAR. This powerful typhoon is expected to induce the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat)and bring occasional rains with thunderstorms across MiMaRoPa, the Western Sections of Luzon and Visayas including Metropolitan Manila beginning this weekend through next week. The next 24-hour StormWatch Update will be issued at 7:00 pm tomorrow, Sunday, July 08.
