Current Status and Outlook | MARIA has weakened just below Super Typhoon classification as it slowed down during the past 24 hours. It shall enter the northeastern border of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday morning (July 09) with no threat to the country. This typhoon WILL NOT MAKE LANDFALL to any part of the Philippines, but will only, indirectly induce the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and bring occasional rains and thunderstorms across the western sections of Luzon and Visayas this weekend through next week. |
Where is MARIA? | As of 5:00 PM PhT today, July 07…0900 GMT. The eye was located over the Northwest Pacific Ocean (near 17.7N 140.5E), about 658 km northwest of Hagatna, Guam (CNMI) or 1,943 km east of Santa Ana, Cagayan. |
