TROPICAL DISTURBANCE (LPA) 92W STORMWATCH NO. 01 Issued at: 7:15 PM PhT (11:15 GMT) Sunday 15 July 2018 Next update: 7:00 PM PhT (11:00 GMT), Monday 16 July 2018
Current Status and Outlook	A fast-moving and rapidly organizing Tropical Disturbance (LPA) 92W is nearing Tropical Depression (TD) status and is now posing an impending threat to Extreme Northern Luzon particularly Batanes Group. This potential Tropical Cyclone will traverse the Balintang Channel by tomorrow late afternoon or early evening (Monday), July 16. This system will therefore induce the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and bring scattered to occasional rains and thunderstorms across the western sections of Luzon and MiMaRoPa incl. Metro Manila through Tuesday (July 17).
Where is LPA 92W?	As of 5:00 PM PhT today, July 15…0900 GMT. The center was located over the southern part of the North Philippine Sea (near 19.0N 128.5E), about 671 km east of Santa Ana, Cagayan or 700 km east-southeast of Basco, Batanes.
How strong is it?	Maximum Sustained Winds (10-min avg): 35 kph near the center…Gustiness: 50 kph
Past Movement (06 hrs)	West @ 24 kph, towards the Batanes-Calayan Islands Area.
Forecast Highlights	LPA 92W is forecast to become a TD later tonight or tomorrow (Monday), July 16 and will traverse the Balintang Channel late tomorrow afternoon or early evening, passing over or very close to Batanes. It may become a minimal Tropical Storm (TS) upon crossing the Balintang Channel. LPA 92W shall move out of the northwestern border of the PAR on Tuesday early morning (July 17). It will be named locally as "HENRY" once PAGASA upgrades it into a TD. This StormWatch Update will be replaced by a 6-hourly Tropical Cyclone Update once this system becomes a Tropical Cyclone.
