The broad Tropical Disturbance 96W (LPA) which formed to the southeast of Guam a couple of days ago is now showing signs of organization and is likely to become a significant Tropical Cyclone within the next 6 to 24 hours.Based on the latest Global Dynamic Forecast Models (GDFM), the tropical system is expected to enter the eastern border of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday afternoon, Sept 24. The Day 4-5 (Sep 26-27) forecast as of today, has showed that this system shall pass in between Southern Taiwan and Extreme Northern Luzon. However, the confidence level of this forecast is low and could still change.

LPA 96W is still too far away to directly affect the Philippines.

Please monitor the situation closely and stay tuned for the latest info on LPA 96W. The next WeatherPhilippines StormWatch on this system will be issued tomorrow evening (Fri Sept 23).
