  • Tropical Depression HUANING (92W) moving faster NW-ward closer to Batanes Group of Islands...threatens Taiwan.

    *Residents and visitors along Extreme Northern Luzon and Taiwan should closely monitor the progress of HUANING.

    *Kindly refer to your local warnings & bulletins issued by your country's official weather agency. This advisory is intended for additional information purposes only.


    + Forecast Outlook: HUANING is expected to continue tracking NW'ly and is expected to pass over Central Taiwan tomorrow afternoon.

    + Effects: HUANING's circulation continues to organize while over the Philippine Sea...its outer bands is expected to reach Extreme Northern Luzon late tonight or early tomorrow.

    + Current SW Monsoon Intensity: MODERATE >> Cloudy skies w/ light to moderate to sometimes heavy occasional rains with thunderstorms and squalls plus moderate SW winds not exceeding 40 kph can be expected over the following affected areas: NORTHERN LUZON, PALAWAN, WESTERN VISAYAS & MINDORO including WESTERN BICOL & METRO MANILA. Possible landslides, mudslides, mudflows (lahars) and life-threatening flash floods are likely to occur along steep mountain/volcanic slopes, river banks, low-lying & flood-prone areas of the affected areas.

    + Tropical Cyclone Watch:

    (1) Tropical Disturbance 91W (LPA) moving Westward across the eastern part of the Philippine Sea...marginal vertical wind shear (aka. upper level winds) affecting its circulation...now located near lat 9.2N lon 134.9E...or about 1,035 km East of Surigao City or 215 km NNE of Palau Island...with 1-min maximum sustained winds of 30 kph...remains embedded within the eastern portion of the broad Monsoon Trough (ITCZ).


    This system will be closely monitored for possible development into Significant Tropical Cyclone within the next 2 to 3 days. Kindly click the cool
