HALONG (JOSE) just barely a Typhoon as it weakens further while moving slowly towards Southern Japan...approaching the Southern and Eastern Coasts of Honshu and Shikoku...strong winds and heavy rains will be expected throughout the day.
Residents and visitors along Ryukyu Islands and Southern Japan should closely monitor the development of TY Halong (Jose).

1-DAY FORECAST OUTLOOK*
TY Halong (Jose) is expected to maintain its north-northeast track throughout the forecast period. On the forecast track, Halong (Jose) will be moving close to the Southeastern and Eastern Coasts of Kyushu, Japan this afternoon...bearing down the Southern Coast of Shikoku...and will make landfall along Southern Shikoku by early Sunday morning.
Halong (Jose) is forecast to lose strength during the next 12 to 24 hours...and will be downgraded into a Tropical Storm (TS) before and after making landfall over Western Shikoku. It will further lose Tropical Characteristics and become an Extratropical Cyclone after 24 hours. Advance Intensity Forecast (AIF) shows its 10-minute maximum sustained winds decreasing to 100 kph by early Sunday morning.

SUNDAY EARLY MORNING: Just a TS as it moves north-northeast, crossing the Shikoku landmass...about 65 km west-southwest of Kochi, Japan [2AM AUG 10: 33.2N 133.0E @ 100kph].
