Super Typhoon HALONG (JOSE) has weakened slightly while moving across the Philippine Sea...should start to take a more northerly track later today and head towards the Southern Islands of Japan.
This intense typhoon will enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and bring occasional to frequent rains, and thunderstorms with gusty winds (not exceeding 65 kph) across Western Visayas, MiMaRoPa, CaLaBaRZon, and some portions of Western and Central Luzon including Metro Manila through Wednesday. The threat of flash floods and landslides are likely in hazard-prone areas especially along river banks and mountain slopes of the affected areas during the occurrence of severe thunderstorms. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions.
Residents and visitors along Okinawa and Ryukyu Islands, and Southern Japan should closely monitor the development of STY Halong (Jose).

STY Halong (Jose) is expected to turn slowly northwest to north-northwestward during the next 24 hours...veering to the north through 48 hours. On the forecast track, Halong (Jose) will just be moving across the open waters of the North Philippine Sea as it heads towards Okinawa-Ryukyus Area through early Wednesday morning.
Halong (Jose) will continue to weaken slowly throughout the forecast period. Advance Intensity Forecast (AIF) shows its 10-minute maximum sustained winds decreasing to 180 kph by early Wednesday morning.

TUESDAY EARLY MORNING: Continues to lose strength as it turns NNW towards the North Philippine Sea...about 845 km east of Santa Ana, Cagayan [2AM AUG 05: 18.4N 130.2E @ 200kph].
WEDNESDAY EARLY MORNING: Continues to slightly weaken while over the North Philippine Sea...veers Northward...about 825 km east-northeast of Basco, Batanes [2AM AUG 06: 21.4N 129.9E @ 180kph].
THURSDAY EARLY MORNING: Weakens further as it approaches Okinawa-Ryukyus Area...about 320 km southeast of Okinawa, Japan [2AM AUG 07: 24.5N 130.1E @ 170kph].
