T2K Philippine Tropical Outlook [for week Feb 25-Mar 02, 2008]

 
Typhoon2000 Philippine Tropical Outlook
For Week: FEBRUARY 25-MARCH 02, 2008 [MONDAY TO SUNDAY] 
Issued: 7:00 AM MANILA TIME (23:00 GMT) SAT 23 FEBRUARY 2008

[1] Continued chance of above-average rainfall for portions of Southern
Philippines. The ongoing La Niña are expected to support a favorable large-
scale environment for convection & rainfall. Above average sea surface
temperatures in some areas will also contribute to enhance rainfall.
Confidence: MODERATE.

[2] The passage of Mid-Latitude Frontal System over Southern Japan
& strong High Pressure Area over China may bring strong & cool north-
easterly winds accompanied with some rainshowers along Northern
& Central Philippines (from Batanes down to Bicol & Northern Visayas).
This wind system is commonly known as the Northeast (NE) Monsoon which
started in November and ends in March. Confidence: HIGH.

Philippines (Palawan, Southern Visayas & Mindanao). The arrival of enhanced,
wet-phase of MJO & the reorganization of La Nina associated rainfall is expected
to result in wet weather during the period. Confidence: MODERATE.
 
[2] The passage of Mid-Latitude Frontal System over Southern Japan
& strong High Pressure Area over China may bring strong & cool north-
easterly winds accompanied with some rainshowers along Northern
