Tropical Storm YAGI (DANTE) has gained a little bit of strength as it left the Philippine Area of Resposnibility (PAR) last night.
Residents and visitors along Southern Japan should closely monitor the development of YAGI (DANTE).

CURRENT STORM ANALYSIS
As of 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Yagi (Dante) was located over the Northwest Pacific Ocean...about 478 km west of Bonin Island or 836 km east of Okinawa, Japan...currently moving north-northeast with an increased forward speed of 28 km/hr in the general direction of the Sea South of Japan.
Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min. avg) have increased to 95 km/hr near the center with higher gusts. Tropical Storm Force Winds (62-95 km/hr) extend outward up to 175 kilometers from the center. Yagi (Dante) is an average-sized tropical cyclone with a diameter of 555 kilometers across. The 24-hour rainfall accumulation near the center of Yagi (Dante) is estimated to be heavy (220 mm).
3-DAY FORECAST OUTLOOK*
TS Yagi (Dante) is expected to continue moving north-northeast during the next 24 to 36 hours, with a turn to the east-northeast, east to southeast between 48 to 72 hours. On the forecast track, the core of Yagi (Dante) will be just along the open waters of the Northwest Pacific, south of Japan through Friday morning.
Yagi (Dante) is forecast to start losing strength during the next 24 to 48 hours...and will dissipate into an area of low pressure on Friday morning.
The following is the summary of the 3-day forecast outlook on this system:
WEDNESDAY MORNING: Moving north-northeast across the open waters of the Northwest Pacific Ocean...about 388 km south-southeast of Tanabe, Japan [6AM JUN 12: 30.8N 137.5E @ 65kph].
THURSDAY MORNING: Starts to weaken and decelerate while over the sea south of Japan...begins to move east-northeast to eastward...about 450 km south-southwest of Tokyo, Japan [6AM JUN 13: 31.8N 138.4E @ 45kph].
FRIDAY MORNING: Dissipating over the Northwest Pacific Ocean...just an area of low pressure...about 514 km south-southwest of Tokyo, Japan [6AM JUN 14: 31.1N 139.1E @ 35kph].
*Please be reminded that the Forecast Outlook changes every 6 hours, and the Day 3 Forecast Track have an average error of 250 km...while the wind speed forecast error, averages 35 kph per day. Therefore, a turn to the left or right of its future track and changes in its wind speed must be anticipated from time to time.

24HR TOTAL RAINFALL ACCUMULATION - from 5 up to 100 mm (slight to heavy rainfall) can be expected along areas affected by the rainbands (see above)...with isolated amounts of 101 to 220 mm (heavy) along areas to the south and near the center of Yagi (Dante).
