Tropical Storm YAGI (DANTE) churning north-northeast toward Southern Japan.
Residents and visitors along Southern Japan should closely monitor the development of YAGI (DANTE).

CURRENT STORM ANALYSIS
As of 6:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Yagi (Dante) was located over the northeastern part of the Philippine Sea...about 1,072 km east-northeast of Santa Ana, Cagayan or 1,041 km east-northeast of Basco, Batanes...currently moving north-northeast with a forward speed of 17 km/hr in the general direction of Southern Japan.
Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min. avg) remains at 75 km/hr near the center with higher gusts. The 24-hour rainfall accumulation near the center of Yagi (Dante) is estimated to be extreme (400 mm).
3-DAY FORECAST OUTLOOK*
TS Yagi (Dante) is expected to continue moving north-northeast during the next 24 hours, with a slight turn to the north between 48 to 72 hours. On the forecast track, the core of Yagi (Dante) will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) late Monday afternoon or evening and will be just along the open waters of the Northwest Pacific through Tuesday evening. It will then be off the southern coast of Wakayama and Mie Prefectures in Honshu, Japan on Wednesday evening.
Yagi (Dante) is forecast to gain strength during the next 2 days reaching a peak of 95 kph on Tuesday morning...but will start to weaken on Tuesday evening, becoming a Tropical Depression (TD) on Wednesday evening.
The following is the summary of the 3-day forecast outlook on this system:
MONDAY EVENING: Intensifies slightly while over the Northwest Pacific Ocean...exits PAR...about 669 km east-southeast of Okinawa, Japan [6PM JUN 10: 25.1N 134.3E @ 85kph].
TUESDAY EVENING: Turns northward as it moves closer to Southern Honshu...about 345 km south of Tanabe, Japan [6PM JUN 11: 30.6N 135.6E @ 85kph].
WEDNESDAY EVENING: Downgraded to a TD as it moves along the coast of Wakayama and Mie Prefectures...about 93 km east of Tanabe, Japan [6PM JUN 12: 33.8N 136.4E @ 55kph].
*Please be reminded that the Forecast Outlook changes every 6 hours, and the Day 3 Forecast Track have an average error of 250 km...while the wind speed forecast error, averages 35 kph per day. Therefore, a turn to the left or right of its future track and changes in its wind speed must be anticipated from time to time.

24HR TOTAL RAINFALL ACCUMULATION - from 5 up to 200 mm (slight to heavy rainfall) can be expected along areas affected by the rainbands (see above)...with isolated amounts of 201 to 400 mm (heavy to extreme) along areas to the south and near the center of Yagi (Dante).
