TROPICAL DEPRESSION DANTE (94W) HAS STARTED TO DRIFT NORTHEASTWARD
AFTER REMAINING QUASI-STATIONARY OVER SORSOGON LAST NIGHT UNTIL
EARLY THIS MORNING...NOW OFF THE EAST COAST OF SORSOGON. MODERATE
TO HEAVY RAINS PREVAILING ACROSS SOUTHERN BICOL PARTICULARLY
MASBATE, BURIAS-TICAO ISLANDS, ALBAY & SORSOGON.
*Residents and visitors along Bicol Region, Southern Luzon and Northern Visayas should closely
monitor the progress of DANTE.
+ FORECAST OUTLOOK: DANTE is now expected to take a slow NE to NNE drift

for the next 12 to 24 hours, passing near the east coast of Catanduanes
tonight. The 2 to 3-day Medium Range Forecast now shows DANTE accelerating
ENE following the path of another system (Tropical Disturbance 95/LPA)
WNW of Guam which has been moving Northward.
+ EFFECTS: DANTE's strong circulation continues to bring moderate to heavy

rains with passing strong squalls (aka. "Subasko") across the Bicol Region
...becoming more frequent over Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes and islands of
Burias and Ticao. Catanduanes will feel the brunt of DANTE late this after-
noon and tonight. 1-day rainfall accumulations of 100 up to 200 mm is po-
ssible along its rain bands. The Digital Rain Gauge at the T2K Weather
Station has recorded 36-hr rainfall accumlations of 222.0 mm (12 AM May 1
to 12 PM May 2)...Barometer is at 1006.2 hPa. An Automated Weather Station
in Ticao Island, Masbate has recorded West Wind reaching 50 kph today.
People living around the slopes of Mayon Volcano in Albay & of Bulusan
Volcano in Sorsogon - especially along the areas where possible MUDFLOWS
(LAHAR) FLOWS (mixture of volcanic mud and water) are located must stay
alert as moderate to heavy rains associated by this system are likely to
affect the area today. Residents in low-lying areas & steep slopes must
remain alert & seek evacuation for possible life-threatening flash floods,
mudslides & landslides due to the anticipated heavy rains brought about by
this system. Precautionary measures must be initiated if necessary.
